Ostomy, Ileostomy and Colostomy Clinic

An ostomy is a surgical procedure that connects an area inside your body to the outside. Most often, an ostomy involves part of your bowel or bladder. This connection creates an opening in your skin called a stoma. An ostomy allows stool or urine to bypass an injured or diseased part of your digestive system.

ostomy and colostomy

Our Ostomy, Ileostomy and Colostomy Clinic has specially trained wound, ostomy, ileostomy, colostomy and continence (WOC) nurses help patients with many ostomy management and skin issues.  We specialize in ostomy treatment care for you and your ostomy, and teach you what you need to know.

We provide a full range of services for patients with a stoma (colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy), as well as fistula and tube stabilization management.

Reasons a patient may need a colostomy include:

  • Diverticulitis. This is inflammation of diverticula (little sacs along the colon)
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Cancer of the colon or intestines
  • Obstruction (blockage) in the larger or smaller intestine
